Intentional Rocks
Part 1: What rocks are in your jar?
Overview
You have a jar that can be empty or full and you have rocks.
Rocks are big important things you give your time and focus to—such as health, family, friends, and your job.
What rocks are in your jar? 🖐️ Name some on your fingers.
Issue(s)
Each rock is approached differently and some rocks don’t make it in the jar.
You might neglect them or forget to place them inside—this could be by choice or when daily demands distract you. Some rocks might “appear” in your jar without your consent, perhaps a life event we are compelled to notice, thus bumping other rocks out. You may have filled your jar with rocks and don’t have room for more.
The rocks in your jar depend on two things: what’s happening in your life and your choice.
Analysis:
When you listed the rocks in your jar, did you single out your relationship?
You did? 👏 Bravo!
So, it’s in your jar because it’s important. What are you going to do with it?
Keep it close? ✊ Watch it? 👀 Grow with it? 🌱
Solution:
Don’t let any of your rocks sit neglected in your jar, be intentional with them so you can grow with them.
To cultivate anything, you’ve got to do something. That action could be planting a new seed, providing water, re-potting or pruning it, or even talking nicely to your plant to help it grow.
Action:
Envision where you want your relationship to be in three months. Don’t worry about how you’ll get there, jump to the future.
What are you and your partner doing?
What would make your relationship 🔥 ?
What change do you feel inside your mind and body?
Define why this 90-day vision is important. If you can’t put clear words on why this matters, then consider returning to step 1.
What is motivating you?
How would you feel different if you achieved this?
How will it affect your relationship?
Ponder your vision until you have clarity about what growth you want to achieve in 90 days and then let’s meet again next week.
Conclusion:
Your Life Jar with Rocks
Let’s grow together,
